1. Scope
This Privacy Policy (the "Policy") applies to the mobile game applications published by DoubleUp Studio ("we", "us", "the Studio") and to the website doubleupstudio.com (together, the "Service"). Our games are built with the Unity engine and distributed through Google Play and the App Store.
By using the Service you agree to the handling of information described in this Policy. If you do not agree, please stop using the Service and uninstall the game.
This Policy does not cover third-party platforms we do not operate, such as Google Play or the App Store. Please review those providers' own privacy policies.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information you provide directly
Our games have no separate account registration, and we do not directly collect names, dates of birth, phone numbers, or addresses inside the game.
You may optionally sign in with Google Play Games to use the leaderboard. Signing in is optional; everything except the leaderboard works without it. When you sign in, the gamer profile that Google Play Games Services derives from your Google account — player ID, gamer nickname, and avatar — is linked to the game. We do not receive your Google account email address or real name.
If you contact us by email, we receive your email address and the content of your message. You provide this voluntarily, and we use it only to respond to your enquiry.
2.2 Information processed automatically during play
Game progress (levels, clear records, sound and vibration settings) is written to local storage on your device only through Unity's local save facilities. It is not transmitted to our servers or to any third party. Uninstalling the game deletes this data.
As an exception, if you are signed in to Google Play Games, your leaderboard score (highest level reached and cumulative clear time) is transmitted to and stored by Google Play Games Services for ranking, and may be shown to other players in ranked form together with your gamer nickname and avatar.
Our games include the Google AdMob SDK for advertising and the Firebase SDKs (Analytics, Crashlytics) for stability and usage statistics. While the game runs, these SDKs may automatically collect and process:
- Advertising identifier (Android Advertising ID, iOS IDFA)
- Device information (model, OS version, language, display information)
- Coarse location inferred from IP address (country/city level)
- App usage events (sessions, level progress and similar)
- Crash stack traces and device state at the time of an error
None of this reaches us in a form that directly identifies you. See Sections 4–6 for details.
2.3 In-app purchases
Our games may offer paid items such as ad removal. Payment is handled directly by Google Play or the App Store; we do not collect or store payment method details such as card or bank account numbers.
We only check the store-issued purchase receipt to confirm whether a purchase exists and then apply the corresponding feature (for example, removing ads). That state is stored on your device. If you change devices or reinstall the game, the Restore Purchases option in the settings screen works by re-reading the receipts of the store account you are signed in to. We do not access or retain your store account details in this process.
2.4 Website usage
doubleupstudio.com is a static site served by GitHub Pages. We set no cookies and run no visitor-tracking tools. Our hosting provider (GitHub, Inc.) and the web-font providers (Google Fonts, jsDelivr) may independently process access logs such as IP address and browser information for service delivery and security purposes.
3. How We Use Information
We use information only for the following purposes:
- Providing game functionality and saving progress (processed on your device)
- Providing leaderboard rankings (Google Play Games Services — signed-in users only)
- Serving advertising and measuring its performance (Google AdMob)
- Diagnosing crashes and improving stability (Firebase Crashlytics)
- Analysing usage statistics to improve gameplay (Firebase Analytics)
- Reviewing and replying to your enquiries
- Investigating and fixing reported bugs
- Complying with legal obligations
We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it beyond the purposes above or disclose it to third parties, except where required by law or by a lawful request from a competent authority.
4. Third-Party Services and SDKs
Our games and the Service include the following third-party services and SDKs, each of which processes information under its own privacy policy:
| Provider | Role | Information processed | Privacy policy |
|---|---|---|---|
| Google AdMob (Google LLC) | Serving in-game advertising and measuring performance | Advertising identifier (AAID/IDFA), device and network information, coarse (country/city-level) location, ad interaction records | View |
| Firebase Analytics (Google LLC) | Usage statistics | App usage events (sessions, level progress), device information, app instance identifier | View |
| Firebase Crashlytics (Google LLC) | Crash diagnostics | Crash stack traces, device state at the time of the error, Crashlytics installation identifier | View |
| Google Play Games Services (Google LLC) | Game sign-in and leaderboards | Gamer profile (player ID, nickname, avatar), leaderboard score (highest level, cumulative clear time) | View |
| Google Play Billing (Google LLC) | Processing in-app purchases and restoring purchases | Purchase receipts, purchase history, payment method details (handled directly by Google; we never receive payment method details) | View |
| Google LLC | App distribution via Google Play | Google account, download and purchase records (handled by Google) | View |
| Apple Inc. | App distribution via the App Store | Apple account, download and purchase records (handled by Apple) | View |
| GitHub, Inc. | Website hosting (GitHub Pages) | Access logs such as IP address and browser information | View |
Firebase Analytics collects app usage events such as sessions and level progress; Firebase Crashlytics collects stack traces and device state at the moment of an error. Both are used to improve and stabilise the games. See Privacy and Security in Firebase for details.
If we add further ad networks (for example via mediation) or other SDKs, we will update this Policy and reflect them in the table above.
5. Advertising
Our games are free to play and are funded by advertising served through Google AdMob. Ads may appear in banner, interstitial, and rewarded formats.
To serve ads and measure their performance, AdMob may collect and use the following information from your device:
- Advertising identifier (Android Advertising ID, iOS IDFA)
- Device information (model, OS version, language, country setting)
- Network information and coarse location inferred from IP address (country/city level)
- Ad interaction records such as impressions and clicks
This information is processed by Google LLC under its own privacy policy. We do not receive it in a form that identifies individual users. See How Google uses information from partner sites and the AdMob Help Center for details.
Users in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland are shown a consent notice on first launch (built on Google's User Messaging Platform) covering personalised advertising and data processing. You can change your choice at any time from the in-game settings screen.
6. Advertising Identifiers
To serve advertising, our games use your device's advertising identifier. This identifier is not linked to your name or contact details, and you can reset it or limit its use at any time.
- Android — Settings > Google > Ads, where you can delete your advertising ID or opt out of ad personalisation.
- iOS — Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking, where you can deny tracking requests. Choosing "Ask App Not to Track" on the App Tracking Transparency prompt shown at first launch has the same effect.
Opting out of personalised advertising does not remove ads; it means the ads you see will be less relevant to your interests.
7. Children's Privacy
Our games are general-audience titles that are not directed at a specific age group. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (US COPPA) or under 14 (Republic of Korea).
We collect no names, contact details, or other directly identifying information inside the game, and we cap AdMob's maximum ad content rating at G (general audiences) so that ads unsuitable for children are not shown. If we learn that we have received personal information from a child, we will delete it promptly.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided information to us, please contact contact@doubleupstudio.com and we will address it without delay.
8. Device Permissions
Our games request no sensitive device permissions — no camera, microphone, contacts, location, or storage access. We use only the minimum system functions required to run the game, such as display, audio playback, and vibration.
We use the internet permission (INTERNET), network state permission (ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE), and advertising ID permission (com.google.android.gms.permission.AD_ID) to load advertising and analytics. The game itself remains playable offline, but ads will not be shown.
9. Retention and Deletion
- Game data — stored only on your device and deleted when you uninstall the game. We do not retain it.
- Leaderboard scores — retained by Google Play Games Services (Google LLC). Your score may remain after you uninstall the game; to delete it, use the Play Games profile data deletion steps in Section 12.4.
- Enquiry emails — kept for up to one year after the enquiry is resolved, then deleted. Where law requires longer retention (for example, to handle a dispute), we keep them for that period.
- Advertising and analytics data — collected and retained by Google; retention periods follow Google's and Firebase's policies and our retention settings. We only see this data in aggregated, statistical form.
- Purchase records — payments and receipts are retained by Google Play and the App Store under their own policies. We store only whether a purchase exists (the ad-removal entitlement) on your device, and that record is deleted when you uninstall the game.
10. International Transfers
Information collected for advertising and analytics may be transferred to and processed on servers operated by Google LLC outside your country, including in the United States. The categories, purposes, and retention periods for that data are governed by Google's privacy policy.
Our website hosting (GitHub, Inc.) and email services are operated by providers with servers outside the Republic of Korea, so access logs and message contents may be stored on overseas servers.
11. Security
We take the following measures to keep information safe:
- Collecting the minimum information necessary to provide the Service
- Processing game data on the device rather than transmitting it to a server
- Serving the entire website over HTTPS
- Restricting access to the enquiry mailbox
No method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
12. Your Rights
Under applicable law you may request access to, correction of, deletion of, or restriction of processing of your personal information. Send requests to contact@doubleupstudio.com and we will act on them without undue delay.
12.1 EEA and UK users
Under the GDPR you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and objection, as well as the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
12.2 California users
Under the CCPA/CPRA you have the right to know what personal information is collected, to request deletion, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell personal information.
12.3 Korean users
You may exercise the rights granted by the Personal Information Protection Act. For assistance with a privacy complaint you may contact the Korea Internet & Security Agency's Privacy Infringement Report Center (privacy.kisa.or.kr, 118).
12.4 Unlinking Google Play Games and deleting its data
You can manage the Google Play Games sign-in and your leaderboard data as follows:
- Unlink — on your device, go to Settings > Google > All services > Play Games (or the settings inside the Play Games app) and remove the game's account connection.
- Delete data — in the Play Games settings, use Delete Play Games account & data to ask Google to delete data for an individual game or your entire gamer profile. Scores posted to the leaderboard are deleted through this process as well.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy following changes in law, changes to the Service, or the introduction of new features such as advertising. Updates are published on this page together with their effective date.
Where a change materially affects your rights, we will give notice at least seven days before it takes effect, on this page or inside the game.
